Frequently Asked Questions about our Retreats


Do I need to have previous experience in Yoga?

Although this retreat is not an advanced Yoga practice retreat (in terms of postures), some knowledge is expected from the participants. Normally this is an open level retreat, meaning that people from different levels of practice might be joining. The main aim and goal of this retreat is personal development. That means we won't be focusing on performing advanced postures or having workshops about Yoga alignment. We will be focusing instead on Yoga as a form of therapy and a lifestyle. If you're a total beginner, I recommend that you take some classes prior to the retreat to get to know the basics. Optionally you can take my Online Beginner Course and later the Vinyasa Flow Course to be prepared for the Retreat. 

What's the retreat program like?

We start every morning with a 90 minute Yoga practice. That includes Asana (postures), Pranayama (breath work) and Meditation. Then we head for a delicious breakfast and following we have either free time or a group activity such as nature walk or surfing. Whenever you have free time you can chose to rest in your room or explore the organic gardens and nature around our retreat location. Normally we advise that during the retreat it's better you avoid going to town and saving that for after you finish the retreat. The reason for it is that you have the least stimulation possible during those days so you can fully rest and dive deep within the subjects we bring forward during this experience. But of course you're free to make your choices.

Lunch is normally served at 2pm, then resting time to digest until our next activity. We offer daily workshops on different themes on personal development such as emotional intelligence, how to set goals that are aligned with your values, how to change negative emotional states in time of crisis, and so on. Depending on the length of the workshop we might have another activity before dinner time, like a meditation or restorative Yoga. Activities differ from day to day and we like to keep a bit of a surprise element in the retreat, so you can completely let go of control and let yourself be guided.

Dinner is served around 7.30pm then we have tea time to chat and connect with others until bedtime.


I don't speak Portuguese, how can I get around?

English is widely spoken in Portugal, from the taxi cab, to the coffee shop. Sometimes perfect, sometimes a bit broken, but everyone can get around in Portugal being an English speaker. Portuguese (and the many expats who live here also) are used to having visitors from all over the world to enjoy the beauty and magic of their country. All the guests from the Retreat come from a variety of backgrounds, from North America, to all different parts of Europe and even some local Portuguese from time to time. It's a very interesting mixture of cultures and we get to learn a lot from each other's unique backgrounds.

What if I test positive for Covid before coming?

We need to know it with at least 24h prior to your arrival that you have tested positive for COVID and that you cannot join us so we can also inform the accommodation and food providers. 

Keep in mind that we will need official proof of positive test to make your declaration valid. In that case you can use your balance for any future retreats with us, unfortunately we cannot give you full refund but the good news is that you will not lose your money.

We cannot be responsible for any flight cancelations, so please make sure you have a travel insurance to avoid unpleasant surprises. We are living in uncertain times and we do our best to accommodate everyone, but we cannot take responsibility for third parties (such as airlines).

If for an extraordinary reason borders will close again due to COVID, the retreat will be postponed to a later date. In case you cannot make it to the new date, you can use your balance for any  future retreats we might host within the next 24 months.

What is and what isn't included in the retreat price?

Whats included on the retreat price:

- 5 nights accommodation in a shared twin room with ocean view

- 3 vegan meals a day and one daily dessert during dinner 

- coffee, tea and kombucha during meals

- daily yoga, pranayama and meditation sessions

- daily workshops with teacher Karol De Souza

- one special workshop on Emotional Intelligence with Dr Daniella Capella

- one KDS Yoga gift bag on arrival

- towel, beach towel, soap, shampoo, lotion, complimentary coffee and tea available in your room on arrival

- yoga mat, block, belt and blanket at the yoga shala

- yoga shala with ocean view is also available for your personal use whenever we don't have a class 

What's not included on the retreat price:

- optional surf lesson

- optional massages

- extra drinks outside meal times

- transfers from and to the airport

How many people will there be in the retreat? 

We like to keep our retreat groups relatively small with a maximum of 12 participants so it feels like an intimate, personal and safe environment. 


We like to make everyone feel very unique and special in their own process. Every story of healing and personal development is worth listening. Every emotional roller coaster is worth caring for. Everyone deserves special attention in such work we will do during the retreat. For that reason we don't like to crowd the room with too many people because like this we will end up still being complete strangers by the end of the week and we don't want that.

A small group is a blessing, everyone is encouraged and inspired by each others stories, battles and victories! Some people feel safer bringing a friend, but I will guarantee you that even if you come alone you will have lifetime friends by the end of this week together!

What types of accommodation are available?

The standard accommodation we offer is a spacious twin room with ocean view located right underneath our yoga shala. You will be sharing this room with only one person. We don't think crowding the accommodation with bunk beds and too many participants is the right environment to relax and find quiet moments. 

If you happen to prefer being completely by yourself in your room you can request a single room with double bed all for yourself for an extra €450. Please inform this upon booking.

What type of yoga is taught in the retreat?

Normally our morning classes are Vinyasa Yoga. This is a very dynamic style of Yoga where breath and movement are synchronised in a sequence flow.

You can expect to always have Pranayama (breath work) and Meditation as part of our morning practice. Each class is focused on a theme we will work on that day.

Evening classes are focused on slowing down and getting ready for bed time. We either will have a Meditation, Restorative Yoga or Yoga Nidra with Sound Journey.

Is the food vegetarian or vegan?

We take great pride on the food we serve during the retreats. We have hired professional chefs to cater a mind blowing gastronomical experience for you! All the meals served at the retreat are completely vegan, organic and locally sourced whenever possible. 


We've had vegetarian and non-vegetarians going to our retreats before and guess what? All of our guests have listed that the food was one of the highlights of their stay!

Living a CONSCIOUS LIFE involves small decisions we take for ourselves every single day. The food we decide to eat is one of them. For that reason we opt for a 100% vegan and organic meals during our retreat. I promise, you won't be disappointed!
