New Years Resolution

What do you want more in your life? Are your actions and values aligned with your purpose? What choices are you making that are pushing or stopping you from living your best life?

These are some good self reflection questions you should be asking yourself now so you can plan yourself to make some important changes for 2023. Life is short. NOW is the time to change.

We can all envision the life we want for ourselves. A great way to start making this vision reality is to start having more clarity on what that is and how to get there. In order to do this I will guide you on a simple journalling exercise.

First make one list of things you would like to change in your life for 2023. For example maybe you want to practice yoga every morning, or maybe you would like to eat healthier, or be less stressed, or change jobs or whatever it is.

Then start observing what's your daily self talk and write them down. How does that voice inside your head convince you to do the things the way you do? What is it telling you? Whats your self talk like? What are the things you keep repeating to yourself? What limiting beliefs stop you from doing things differently?

Then make a list of things you're doing (or not doing) that are stopping you from your goal. Such as procrastinating, sleeping in, grocery shopping for junk food, using other peoples behaviour as an excuse for your own, not taking responsibility for your own life, victimising yourself, aggressively talking to yourself, thinking you're not capable etc.

Then finally a list of small things you can change right now that will put you in the direction that you want. For example you might not be able to change jobs right now, but for sure you are able to dedicate yourself a couple of hours a week to discovering a new skill or doing something that you could see yourself doing as a full time occupation. Remember, baby steps, you need to start from somewhere.

The support of a community often helps us to stay on track. If you have a friend that would like to change the same habit as you, for example doing yoga daily. You can push each other to practice. It's hard to break an old habit, or to set new ones. But eventually your new habits will become as automatic as your old ones.

Look for things or people that inspire you in your journey of change, read a book, follow a podcast, watch a documentary that inspires you, attend a retreat. Use your time and energy wisely, channel your energy to the things that matter and that will inspire you to become the best version of yourself.

And for last, don't be discouraged. There's no failure, only feedback. Take pleasure on your journey. Don't be too hard on yourself. Trust on the infinite abundance of the universe. Everything you want is possible and is available to you, all you need to do is to take it!
